Cal Mahin

Cal Mahin, collage and assemblage artist resides in Hays, Kansas. Cal holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from U. of NE, Kearney and a Masters of Science in Collage and Montage from Fort Hays State University. He is a re tired art instructor from Colby Middle and High Schools and from 1971 to 1973 he was Secondary Art Instructor for the Department of Defense in Nuremberg, Germany. Twenty-six summers he taught Adult art workshops for the Creative Arts Festival at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, and after retirement from Colby Public Schools continued as part time art instructor at Colby Community College for 11 years.

His favorite artistic subjects are social statements, political and philosophical subjects. The unique use of hand-formed papers, found objects and papers make his works an extraordinary visual experience.

Cal has exhibited his works in one-man shows in Kansas, Nebraska and New Mexico. Many of his works are in private collections, foundations and museum collections.
